People interested in attending the Google Workshop

This was a preliminary list with expressions of interests, preferred and impossible dates, etc.

Holger Bast: Almost everything related to text search, e.g., efficient index construction, techniques for efficient query processing, semantic / ontological search, search in semi-structured data, approximate / error-tolerant search, ... The whole of September is fine for me, starting with October it will be more and more difficult to find time. Will ceratainly attend. Will bring my Ph.D. student from the project: Marjan Celikik.

Peter Sanders: Basic search engine algorithms, parallelization, memory hierarchy aspects (also flash). Suffix arrays. Graph algorithms for large graphs. Data compression, e.g. Bloom filters. I will bring one or two PhD? ? students. Perhaps Frederik Transier and maybe Vitaly Osipov. Preferred dates: September 22 - October 31.

Stefan Edelkamp: [TODO, wrote: My research subject is search in large state spaces. Currently, I am not that much into strings even if I have done a generalized suffix
tree implementation years ago and Peter, my current Ph.D. student, has done work in externalizing a state-of-the-art optimal sequence aligner. The other PhD? ? student, Damian Sulewski, is working on flash-memory and GPU-based model checking. To put it short, we are interested, but might be busy due to conferences ICAPS (Sydney, 12-18.9), KI (Kaiserslautern, 23.9-26.9). I also like to pass the Berlin-Marathon (28.9.) ...]

Christian Sohler: Reseach focus is algorithms for massive data sets, data streaming, clustering. Christiane Lammersen and Morteza Monemizadeh would also like to join. Impossible dates (more to come): 11.8. -26.8.; 15.-17.9.; Early September would be good; Also the two days after ALGO are fine. What about the first week in Oktober?

says he might bring 2 - 3 other person]

Hanjo Tauebig: [TODO, says 1 - 2 people from his group will come]

Sven Rahmann: [TODO, wrote: Ich haette grosse Lust, dahin zu fahren, insbes. im Hinblick auf kommende Hochdurchsatz-Sequenzierung und Pan-Genom-Projekte. Impossible dates: 8.-18.9. (GCB in Dresden, ESA/WABI in Karlsruhe), 23./24.10. Preferred: Late September]

Dorothea Wagner: Unfortunately the set date now collides with our annual internal workshop; most probably we won't be able to attend. [says 3-5 people from her group would certainly want to come: Robert, Daniel, Marco, Reinhard, Marcus ... possibly September after ALGO (15. - 17.), preferably October. Our interests are: Graph Clustering, Shortest Path Computations, Computational Geometry, Graph Generators]

Thorsten Koch: LP/MIP/Programming/Software Engineering, Kati Wolter: MIP/Cutting Planes, Sounds very interesting, possible dates: 26-30.9., 17-31.10

Friedrich Eisenbrand: I would like to attend and bring 2 more people

Uli Meyer: would like to attend and might bring 2-3 more people from my group. Impossible dates: 15.-17. Sep, 23.-26. Sep. Prefered time: early Sep.

Katharina Zweig: Interested in data mining of web structures and algorithms for real-world data sets. A colleague of mine, Peter Pollner, is currently working at a large Internet based search engine on Hungarian webpages to extract trends. Both of us would like to attend the workshop. Impossible dates: 15th-20th. September. Early September sounds very good.

Sven Reinck: Two PhD? ? students from FU Berlin would attend. Impossible dates: 08.-18. Sep.

Susanne Albers: We would like to attend and come as a group of about three people. We are generally interesting in algorithmic problems arising in large networks. We could give a presentation on the hotlink assignment problem, where the goal is to accelerate web search using additional hyperlinks. Impossible date Sept 1-15.

Sándor Fekete: At least one member from my group ( Tobias Baumgartner)would like to attend; my attendance depends on the date. ESA (Sep 15-17) is bad, as is the last week of September; Sept 19 would be perfect, as I have to be in Zurich Sept 17/18 for some other reason.
